MMORPG Playtime?

It is a common misconception that people who play MMORPGs are only teenagers who don't have lives or geeky adults with no friends. Well, those stereotypes are slowly fading away. Many of today's videogames and MMORPGs in particular are introducing more and more people to the gaming industry. But, the average American usually doesn't have enough time to dedicate to the grind in most online games. So how does someone with a job, friends, etc. make time for online games? Here's how:

Set a schedule

This may sound a little over-the-top for a video game, but leveling in MMORPGs is all about consistency. Let's think about this topic in Lineage 2 terms. If I gain 4% of my level an hour in the 60's, it will take 25 hours before I level. This is 25 hours of constant grinding. This brings me to my next point.

Become an Efficiency Nut

From the time you log on till the time you log off, you should be leveling in the most efficient spot. There are several things that can distract you from your goals; checking the trade market, trying to find a spot to level, etc. etc.

Pace Yourself

Don't fall into the "I must level and become the best of the best in 2 days" trap. It's ok to be competitive, but you only make your time spent leveling miserable if you are constantly stressing yourself out. MMORPGs are a long term commitment. These games aren't meant to be played in a month or two and dropped. The life of most mmorpgs are at least a year.

Read Everything You Can About Your MMORPG

There are so many tips and tricks (also hacks) for mmorpgs... If you are one of the first to learn about a certain trick, you can capitalize before everyone makes it obsolete. It pays to read forums often.

Get a Friend to Help!

Ok, now I am going to be a little "controversial". If you truly want to compete with the most dedicated of players, share accounts with someone you trust(within driving distance). Why would you want to do this? If you are trying to shatter leveling records, it will take more than one person playing the same character 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... It's my personal belief that you lose bragging rights when you do this, but if you really don't care about all of that, go for it. There aren't many people who can keep up with someone who shares accounts. Keep in mind that some game companies frown on this activity.

Either way, keep grinding, keep killing, and focus on become as efficient as a machine; preferably a machine like the terminator...
