| That is very interesting. Looks like DF is going to be similar to RYL and Rune as far as a battle system goes. Real time swinging and no point and click. That does make the game feel more interactive but lag will really cause problems. If real time weapon swinging is the case, then timing and character movement will play a big role in battle; it would be more like a FPS than a RPG. |

I'm wondering if anyone on these forums heard anything about DF's crowd control system. As far and mindless "zerging" is concerned. That strategy was a problem in almost all the mmorpgs I ever played. A good feature I like is the fact that characters will actually take up space and be able to block other players with their bodies. That helps to promote formations and such, eliminating the problem of "the blob of death" is what I like to call it in DAoC and WoW. Fifty or so meleer's running a big blob because they do not interact with each other.
What I did like to DAoC was the use of crowd control spells which are lacking in WoW. Spell such as AoE Mez and Stun are very annoying; however, they force good players to travel in well organized groups and formations rather than blobs that swarm all over the place. |
