I have been screwing around with several different games lately. (Just beat Knights of the Old Republic, about to beat Black and White 2, and pretty far in F.E.A.R. as well...)
I can't think of which game I would consider the best computer game of 2005 though..
What do you guys think? |

Tayman, I want you to check out Defence of the Ancients, it's a Warcraft 3 custom map that has become 1000 times more popular then the actual game. My room mate got me hooked on it and we've been playing it obsesively, there's much more strategy to it then there is micro management so it might be something you'll be able to pick up quick and we can pwn in it.

Wow...wait until you need to head back to school to find something interesting to do Benman.
Yah, I didn't play Warcraft 3 enough to master the insane amounts of micromanagement for online play.
Now I just need to find my Warcraft 3 install disc..... |

I've been playing this for about 2 months, games only last about 40 minutes so it's easy to just get in a game or two here and there. MMORPG's just consume me was too competitive.
You actually need Frozen Throne even if you can't find it, the battle chest with both is like 30$. And you can play through the Single Player which actually may be my vote for Best Computer Game ever.
It's totally worth it though, this has been like the most sucessful community managed mod far in a way. Which is a pretty unique experiance since it's gone through a lot of updating with the only purpose to please the playing community and not make cash.
Micromanagement is not at all a big deal either, you only control a single hero, so only real management is using hotkeys. It's easy to jump in and feel competitve with good strategy and outsmarting the other team.
Basically AV in WoW was based on DoTA they just bastardized it and turned it into shit. But hop on ICQ and I'll tell you more about it if you're at all interested, I'll be doing nothing til the 16th and I'll definetely be playing beyond that. We could own very easily. |
